Story by Jeff Royer & updated from time to time by the band
We've been fortunate enough to play some National events in the last 12 months !
In September 2008, we performed for the National Association of State & Provincial Lotteries' (NASPL) NATIONAL CONVENTION
in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. We want to thank the PA Lottery Executive Director, Ed Trees,
and his great management team - it was a fantastic event ! In May of this year (2009), we performed at the NATIONAL CONVENTION
of the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) at the Bedford Springs Resort.
We want to thank the PA Secretary of Transportation, Allen Biehler, and his great management team, for a terrific evening !
Now, on to more about the band...
Some bands play music as an artistic outlet.
Some play to make lots of money. And some bands play for the
express purpose of getting your funk on. One glimpse
at The IMPACT Band will tell you exactly which kind of band
you're dealing with.
"We play the groove that makes you
move," exclaims drummer Jeff Cox. "We're a dance
party band. We love to funk it up, and we do everything
from Earth, Wind & Fire, Ohio Players, Kool & The Gang,
and Tower of Power - up through Justin Timberlake, Usher, and Beyonce. We
do material from the 1970's up through 2008."
The Impact Band is a monstrous 9-piece
orchestra of funk featuring former members of PA mainstays
like Full Effect, Big Tubba Mista, and the Daine Paul Russell
Band. Joining drummer Jeff Cox in the funk party are (deep breath): Jeff Falcone on vocals; Antonio Fountain
on guitar, keyboard, and vocals; Matt Bowman on trumpet; Mike Yinger on trombone and vocals; Mike Evans on saxophone;
Jimi "Jam" Harris on keyboards and vocals; Aaron Hughes on bass; and new for 2010 - Deyna Spizzirri on vocals.
"I'm lucky to be surrounded by great musicians. We have a lot of energy on stage and we all work together," says Cox, who credits the horn section for the band's fat sound.
"In January 2010, we brought in a new female vocalist who's obviously very capable of doing the latest stuff, "
he boasts.
The group has been hauling its party-on-wheels
around the eastern U.S. since its inception in January 2000
as the Full Impact Band. A few years ago, they changed the name to just The IMPACT Band (there
were too many bands that started with "Full," Cox
explains) and with a sponsorship by Rolling Rock, the party is
better than ever, according to Cox.
